Warrington School is part of a national environmental programme, Enviroschools. Enviroschools is an environmental action based programme where young people are empowered to design and lead sustainability projects in their schools, neighbourhoods and country.
Our children develop life skills and make important links with nature in our school and community.
Marine Studies- Working alongside Dr Lucy Wing the students experience authentic ‘in the field’ research. Warrington has a very unique learning environment right on the school’s doorstep. The children have regular chances to investigate the rocky coastline, our beach and the Blueskin Bay estuary. The programme develops students’ science skills, enriches their understanding and fosters a knowledge-building community.
Community Garden Projects- Warrington School has plenty of space to grow and that is exactly what the children have been doing in the community garden. A local expert in sustainable gardening joins with a group of children each week to foster garden knowledge and a love of nature.
Garden to Table Initiative- School fruit trees provide healthy snacks, the vegetable plots provide many opportunities to create nutritious meals and the glasshouse provides delicious tomatoes for pasta sauces and chutneys. Every Thursday two knowledgeable garden ladies (the two Lynn’s) visit our children to inspire a love of gardening.
